Connect Davnode to macOS Mail

This guide covers how to set up your Davnode email account using the native Mail app on macOS.

Prerequisites

  • Your Davnode email address.
  • Your email address password or app password (recommended).
  • macOS Mail installed (default).
We recommend to always use an app password for connecting mail clients.

Server Settings Reference

Use these settings if macOS asks for server details manually during setup.

OutgoingSMTPmail.davnode.com465SSL/TLS

Note: Your username is always your full Davnode email address.

Setup Instructions

  1. Open the Mail app on your Mac.
  2. If this is your first account, the setup dialog will open automatically.
    • If you already have accounts: Go to the menu bar, select Mail > Add Account…
  3. Select Other Mail Account… from the list of providers.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Enter your account details:
    • Name: Your display name.
    • Email Address: Your full Davnode email address.
    • Password: Your email password.
  6. Click Sign In.

Configuring Server Details

macOS will attempt to verify the account. If it cannot verify automatically, it will ask for additional details:
  1. Account Type: Select IMAP.
  2. Incoming Mail Server: mail.davnode.com
  3. Outgoing Mail Server: mail.davnode.com
  4. Click Sign In.
  5. Select the apps you want to use with this account (Mail, Notes) and click Done.

Verifying Ports (Troubleshooting)

Apple Mail sometimes attempts to manage connection settings automatically, which can occasionally default to the wrong ports. If you cannot send or receive mail, verify the settings:
  1. Open Mail.
  2. In the top menu bar, go to Mail > Settings… (or Preferences on older macOS versions).
  3. Click the Accounts tab and select your Davnode account.
  4. Click the Server Settings tab.

Incoming (IMAP)

  • Uncheck Automatically manage connection settings.
  • Port: Ensure it is set to 993.
  • Use TLS/SSL: Checked.

Outgoing (SMTP)

  • Uncheck Automatically manage connection settings.
  • Port: Ensure it is set to 465.
  • Use TLS/SSL: Checked.
  • Authentication: Password.
Tip: If port 465 does not work for you due to network restrictions, you may try port 8465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS).
  1. Click Save if prompted.
